Winter Rally, January 14-16, 2000
Camp Blanding, SR16, Starke, FL

Wow! What a rally. Thanks to all the attendees and workers who made this our finest ever rally. We have received much positive feedback, and have some photos taken by various participants. We are very grateful to the administrative staff at Camp Blanding for, not only allowing us access, but for making us all so welcome.

Now, on to the fun stuff. (these pictures will take a bit to download)

This is a National Guard Camp? Registration - in a warm building with coffee (aah!)

Thanks for a wonderful rally in a great location; I can't think of anything that could have made for a better weekend (well, maybe the weather).  I appreciate everything that you and everyone else in your club did to prepare for and implement such a fine rally.  Please convey my thanks to all the helpful people at Camp Blanding, as well.   Thanks again,

Harris Todd , Charleston, SC
Thanks, Harris, see you next year.

Setting up under the oaks.

Thanks again for a great rally! I heard nothing but great things about the location, and even heard some folks say that it was of "National" caliber.

How 'bout it?  : ) (are you nuts?, webslave)

Anyway, I didn't know exactly who to send the pictures I took, so you all get them (30 or so). Just thought you might be interested.

Lured by the aroma of steaks, the crowd gathers.

BMW: The Winter (a perfect) Rally....

....... or maybe as perfect as a Rally can get. Picture this,  Camping on the shore of a large lake (circular, about a mile diameter), clear, crisp Florida weather.  All campsites, either right next to the water or a short ways up a low bluff, with a full view of the lake.  Big piles of wood for campfires, a picnic table, fire grill, and fire pit for every campsite.  Flush restrooms with showers conveniently located in the campground, no portolets.  Eat breakfast in the Mess Hall, Lunch at the Officers club. Need some groceries or liquid refreshment, or smokes or clothes- go to the BX.  Friday night brats, Sat nite cook your own steak.  Coffee, tea, hot chocolate always available.

Docks to walk out on and look at the lake or the Stars.  No traffic noise.  Don't want to camp, pull in you motor home with full hook ups next to the campground.  Don't have a motor home, rent a 'cabin' (fancy, full facilities with linen).  Don't want a cabin, rent a motel room. All very reasonable priced.  Friends, new and old.

All of this, this past weekend, was the Winter Rally at Camp Blanding, a Florida National Guard camp, a few miles East of Starke Florida. Over 200 strong willed motorcyclists braved the cold to enjoy this great rally.  The temperature and wind was somewhat brisk (an understatement perhaps), but that is what the winter rally is.  It is supposed to be cold.

A big thankyou to the BMW Motorcycle Club of NorthEast Forida, for putting on an outstanding rally. They promised that it would be at the same place next year.

I'll be there.
Posted to the IBMWR list by Thomas Anspach. Thank you!

We did say it was chilly.
Did we mention there are docks on the lake? Saturday night wrapup, doorprizes.
