We were living in Orlando, FL when the company I was working for decided I needed to be in Dallas, Texas.  During the "Family Meeting" to inform the kids we would be relocating, my oldest son stated he would move with us if he got a dirt bike.  He was 8.  While living in Dallas we ended up with four dirt bikes (3 boys and me) and had a blast on the weekends.  Texas is a great place for off road.

I started riding street bikes when I moved back to Jacksonville and my brother-in-law loaned me his Suzuki DR650.  I bought a r850r and started commuting to work.  I Joined BMWMOA which led me to BMWNEF.  I bought a 2006 1200RT from Ray King and started taking longer rides.  Life it worth living on two wheels.

MYRON BEACHY

My dad loved to ride and rarely left home on his bike without me. At fourteen I got my endorsement and purchased my first motorcycle, a 250 Yamaha Virago. Growing up in Tennessee the mountains were always close and next curvy backroad was only a short straight stretch away. I moved to Florida for a job opportunity and started riding with Todd Sandlin. After attending a few club meetings and rides I joined BMWNEF and am looking forward to contributing to the club in any way I can.

JIM ALLEN

Jim Allen has been a member of the club since 2015 and currently riding a K1200 GT and a K1200RS sporting a Hannigan side car. He and his wife Ruth have been riding two up since the 70’s and traveled across the US, Canada and the Maritimes. One of the more enjoyable trips was the trip to Alaska with club members in 2018.

Jim and his wife Ruth have been active in the food service planning and implementation at the BMWNEF winter rally at Camp Blanding and Camp Weed and Cervany Conferrence Center.

CHIP KENYON

Appointed Director & Finance Chair

 

Chip Kenyon joined BMWNEF in 2004. He has served the club in a wide variety of capacities including: President, Vice President, Winter Rally Co-Chair, chair of a number of different rally committees and Executive Committee member for 13 years. In 2016 Chip and his wife Cathy, were honored to receive the Club’s Maggie Award for service. Chip has logged 150,000 miles on BMW motorcycles and enjoys long distance rides and motorcycle camping outings.

Steve Wishard

Steve Wishard became a BMWNEF member in 2017. The next couple of years his time was occupied with his business and associations with other local riders. In the fall of 2019 Steve closed his business and retired. Since then he has been contributing more and more to our club. In January 2020 he became a member of the Marketing & Public Relations Committee. Steve has been instrumental in enhancing our digital marketing campaigns adding video and photographic content. Steve received his first motorcycle endorsement, along with his first drivers license, in 1969, in his home state of Illinois.  During those first years on two wheels he owned several street bikes and a Yamaha MX bike, which he raced. Steve is a premier member of the IBA, and has completed multiple SS1Ks, a BBG and a 100ccc. Steve still plans to complete the George Wyman Challenge and Key West to Prudhoe Bay challenges.

I started riding in the spring of 1965—despite my mother’s firm command: “You will not own a motorcycle.” Ignoring that directive, I secretly bought a Triumph Tiger Cub and kept it in the garage of a high school friend. His parents never seemed to notice, as there was a steady stream of us coming and going as we worked on refitting a 1961 Corvette.

After high school, I purchased my dream bike—a 1965 Triumph Bonneville T120. That love affair lasted until I discovered a 1973 Moto Guzzi Eldorado, which eventually grew into a succession of five more Moto Guzzis.

My first BMW was a 1981 R65, followed over the years by a K100RT, R1100RT, R1150 Rockster, R1150RT, K1200GT, and my current regular ride, a K1300GT.

Along the way, there were a few other notable additions: a KTM 620 LC4, a Kawasaki KLR 650—on which, at age 69, I rode the Trans America Trail—two Yamaha FJR1300s, and a Ducati 750 Monster. I’m sure I’ve missed a bike or two, but that’s the bulk of the story.

I lived in Sarasota, Florida, for more than 30 years, where I was active with the Sun Beemers club, serving as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and chair of the Sun Your Buns Rally four times.

I’m counting on BMWNEF to help keep me swinging a leg over a motorcycle for as long as possible. Please join us. BMWNEF regularly provides four opportunities to ride each month.

Lenny Ovrutsky

I have been riding since my teenage years back in USSR (thinking “The Beatles” now…)

There, I rode Ural, Dnepr, Jawa 350.

We have been residing in the NY / NJ area since 1979.

Had a few bikes of various styles and types:

Kawasaki Vulcan 750, Suzuki VX800, Honda VFR 750, BMW R80/7, BMW K75, BMW R1100R, Harley Road King, Honda ST1100,

Goldwing.

Have been in a number of Clubs and done a lot of group riding, leading, sweeping, ride planning and routing.

Moved to Florida in 2017 and joined the Club in Jan 2023.

Now riding the BMW K1600GTL and BMW R1250GSA.

Worked in IT for various Brokerage Firms developing and supporting Back Office applications.

My goal is to support BMWNEF and contribute what I can to make the Club shine!

Born and raised in Michigan.

Started riding and skiing at 13.

First bike was a 1965? Honda Trail 55.

2nd bike 1965 Honda Trail 90.

First car 1964 4 speed Corvair Spyder.

2nd car 1967 GTO 4 speed.  

Retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

Several moves with Goodyear. Met Netty in IA. Married in OH.  

Job promotion led to transfer to Jax in 1997.

Was still riding Harley's then.  

First BMW purchased in 2002. 1976 BMW R90s I still have.

Charter Life AMA member.

Former HOG member for 20 years.

BMWNEF, BMWMOA, BMW RA and Airheads all for 20 + yrs.

Former NEF president for 3 years in the early 2000's.

Riding Into History Chairman around the same time.

Continue to be a member of the Executive Committee.  

Iron Butt Association member and 2015 Iron Butt Rally finisher # 524.

Rode with 2 other club mbrs from Key West to Prudhoe Bay and back

in 2007.

Rode with 9 other club members on an Edelweiss Alps tour in 2010.

Raced AHRMA Cross Country events for 6 years. Won age class a couple times.  

Own several BMW's from 1959 to 2017.  

Isle of Man remains a bucket list item.
